why is this a "falcon" van?

why is this a "falcon" van?

wonder why this guy calls this a falcon van?

'cause that's what it is! Actually the vans were called Falcon as they were built initially on the Falcon platform. They even had Falcon emblems and badges. it's been a while but I've seen a few over the years.

wow, i thought i was a pretty knowledgable ford guy, i'd never heard of them. of course i've seen 66 ford vans before, but didn't know they were called falcon vans.

Yes, it's true. Chevy had the Corvair van, and Dodge had the D100 cab over. An intersting time to have lived through when these were new cars.

so all ford vans in 66 were falcon vans? was the econoline around back then?

Vans

The Falcon vans ran until 1967. I believe that all of the Falcon long body vans were of the passenger style (windows), while the econoline had both. As per the cab forward design, I believe the
falcons had windows in the rear curved corners of the cab. They came off of the same assembly lines as the Econolines. It is documented that some vans had the Falcon trim on one side and the Econoline trim on the other.
