Was wondering if there is a benefit to keeping the crossover fitting between the heater hoses and what good is it doing. It's on a 66 wagon and the only option it has is a/c. Didn't know if it was something to do with the a/c. Thx

What is a crossover fitting?
If you mean the pad that sits under the carburetor, then, yes, it does have a purpose.
If you mean the valve bolted to the firewall where the hoses attach, then, yes, that too has a purpose.
Neither has any direct impact of the function of the A/C. But this assumes the "crossover" is one of those two from above.

This actually is a metal H looking tubing fitting that fits in the heater hoses as If you cut both hoses and put this In all the cut pieces and causes both hoses to be connected.
