4 speed question

question...Ive got a 289 67 3 speed on the floor. Will be swaping to a toploader 4 speed soon. I have found one that was from a 67 with a 390. Wouldnt that trans bolt up if its a 10 spline 1 1/16 input and 28 spline out. The main case should be 24in and tailshaft 14in... All the #"s and tag check out to be correct.....Would there be a bellhousing issue since it came from a 390 car??? or would my 289 bellhousing work just fine... but unless its a 31 spline 1 3/8 input, which Im gathering was mostly in 427 cars it would work....
Right/wrong?? please advise
thanks

The only difference between the small in/out smallblock and bigblock toploaders for the same body is the input shaft pilot length. Bigblock toploader inputs use a pilot 5/8" shorter than the smallblock. You can purchase an extended length pilot bushing to make up the difference. Bellhousing should be fine.

I did pretty much the same thing. I ended up getting a new input shaft from "David Kee" for about $120.
