Me to
Im glad you posted this question. I was wanting opinions as well, but I want to clarify what you are asking and pose a question as well.
My 67 has the lower side trim as well as the upper side trim that seems to be a little more rare. I have looked in the books and manuals and cannot find what this upper trim was called or on which vehicles in came on standard or not. There is a trim mentioned in the options list that could be it, but next to it, is the word "Fleet" in parenthesis. Any help with the history of this trim would be appreciated.
For my opinion, I like the lower trim very much (better than the GT stripes) the upper trim, Im not sure about, but will probably leave in place since its in good shape and you dont see it very often.

When looking at other cars, Corvettes, Camaros, Big Block Fairlanes, ect.. Collectors will pay for original.. I dont think a collector is gonna break the bank over a base Fairlane, with or without mouldings... Or am i wrong?? Do collectors want base models and want the moulding??

I've got a 66 with the lower trim and like it. I've seen other with the upper trim and like it too.....but I've never seen one with both upper and lower trim. I'm not sure if I'd like both on the same car...can you post a pic?

Heres a picture from the day I got it. I have it all apart now for the extensive body work.
Any help with the history or details of the upper trim?

I see what you mean....I'd get rid of that upper trim for sure. I thought your lower trim was around the rocker panels.
Yank the upper right away!

Definitely remove the upper trim. The lower trim would probably look better with a darker color, but I would still remove it and go for the GT accent stripes. Doing this you could also go for a narrow stripe around where the upper trim is. _________________ 66 hardtop downunder

I'd yank those hub caps and wheels too.....put those into storage incase you want them later. Mine are in storage and the tires were brand new!

[quote="67ragtopfairlane"]As you can see, I had the car repainted and did put the mouldings back...
I'm still thinking of removing them... Take a look and let me know..

If you are looking for that stock standard/cruiser look you have acheived it. I would leave them on if it was mine, so you get that stock standard look, as well as being different as there wouldn't be that many around with them on. _________________ 66 hardtop downunder

IMHO: Looking at photos of various vechicles (66 and 67's) it looks like the upper trim is from a 66 Fairlane. The upper trim on the 67 only went about half way towards the headlight on the front fenders. Whereas the 66 molding went all the way to the headlight -- which is shown in your photo. Use your "Search" mode on you computer listing "Images" for both years and you'll see what I mean.

I yanked my upper trim, I personally don't care for the lower trim on 67's, I have mine on my 66 but might x it one of these days.
