1966 Fairlane R-Code Value
Just throwin' this question out there. I've got a line on an authentic 1966 R-Code. Car has been gently (very minor) modified and is missing the original engine block & transmission. However, many engine add ons are still there, including intake and carbs. Body has been freshly painted, and all body mouldings, trims, bumpers, etc. are there. According to the owner, the car was raced, with little street time. Asking price is $35k.
The car in question is not for my personal use, but for a friend of mine who is more of a Mustang fella, but has an interest in the R-Code Fairlane.
I currently own a 1966 Fairlane, somewhat of a clone to the R-Code, however to copy was not my intent. Really just like the look of the R-Code. Anyhow, I am green in the area of worth for this authentic unit, and am looking for any knowledgable Fellas/Ladies to kick in some input on values.
Very appreciated!! _________________

if you're talking about a factory 427 car, i've seen them go on ebay or other places from $60,000 to $75,000. the reason i say "if" is, isn't the 428 also an R code? _________________ NMCB 28 Seabee Battalion

The 428 4V V8(345hp) had a factory code Q, the 428 PI-4Y V8 (360hp) had a factory code P. The 427 8V V8(425hp) was the only engine with the R code from 1963 to 1967. In 1968 the R code motor was a 428 CJR-4V V8(335hp) this lasted to 1971 when it became a 351 HO-4V V8 (330hp). 1971 was also the year that they changed how the hp was rated on the cars they sold. As for the value of the R code fairlane I have seen 1 for sale on the deals on wheels website for $60,000 but I dont know if they got that for it. At the end of the day the value on it would be what you are prepared to pay for it. _________________ 66 hardtop downunder

thanks la8ron for clearing that up, i was always alittle confused about the R codes. i knew the 427's were R codes but i had thought i had seen some 428's with that code too. also, i don't believe they put any 428's in 66/67 fairlanes, so that should have told me right there. _________________ NMCB 28 Seabee Battalion

Pretty sure all you can do is get the VINs from the car and use the decoder on Woody's page. The one on the radiator support or under the fenders (probably not an option) being the ones to look for. Door one is easily swapped.

I have noticed Fastlane cars has a 427 side oiler engine for sale which they want $20,000 for, I hope this helps with you trying to work out a value for the R code fairlane you are talking about. _________________ 66 hardtop downunder
