gen light won't turn off

So I switched my 62 from a generator to an alt, I swapped to the 4 wire voltage regulator I get a solid 13.2 volt chgarge but now my alt/gen light stays on. I hooked the small yellow w/ black stripe witr to the I terminal on the regulator. And if I take the bulb out its stops charging??

Lmk thatnks for the help

My guess is you "may" have smoked the regulator for some reason or another.
Recheck to make sure you have the correct wiring as well as good connections at the regulator.

The bulb is part of the exciter circuit for the alternator. If you remove the bulb, you break the circuit and there is nothing to put a demand on the alternator for current. Wierd how it works that way, but it's how it is in most older cars.

I can't tell you why the light stays on when you have it hooked up but don't think the regulator is working because it's new. NEW means Never Even Worked. It's a common fault mechanics make when they have diagnosed the problem, replaced a sensor, and it still has the problem so they chase after other things and frustratingly end up back at the NEW part that was bad right out of the box.
