AOD to C4 trans swap.. Will factory '66 driveshaft work?

Hey guys.. My '66 Fairlane 500 currently has a 5.0 with a used AOD trans. But my engine recently blew, so I will have to pull it out to put the new one in. Since I will be taking the trans out as well, I was thinking about replacing it with a built C4 to go behind my new 347 stroker. Anyways, according to the shifter surround my car originally had a "Cruise-O-Matic" trans. Was that a C4? And if so, a factory '66 driveshaft should work for my swap, correct? I'm sure this is a very obvious question, but I like to cover all angles before making a big decision. TIA Smile

Hiya AKB, the Cruise-O-Matic is just an early C4 and if I'm not mistaken you'll have to have that drive shaft lengthened since the C4 is shorter then the AOD.

Thanks. So a factory '66 driveshaft should work then, since the Cruis-O-Matic was a C4? That's assuming I can find one in decent shape. At the moment though my funds ran out so I will not be replacing the trans at the same time as the engine. However, having all of this info in my head if the money becomes available will surely be a great help to me.
