i have problems

when i start my engine it fires right up but it high revs like crazy. it'll idle down run for a sec then tries to stall. When i give a little gas to keep it running it high revs like crazy again. new everything under the hood. edlebroch carb, intake, powerhorse heads, comp cam, msd distributor. i hope any of that will help. I thought it might be a cab adjustment but since its new it should have a base setting to it right. any help will be great

Thank you
TJ

New carb will be no where near optimal to start & idle.

Check idle mixture screws.
Base curb idle speed
Base timing.

Sounds like a vacuum leak.

update

i changed out the springs in my carb and the high rev isnt as bad. but still doin it. could it be timing. I havent had the car run long enough to set the timin since i am doin this by myself. My edlebrock owners manual said that advancein the timing could help does that make sense.

You say you installed a cam, sometimes it's necesary to switch to "351" Firing order.
