Largest front brakes and widest/tallest rear tires on a '64
Been looking over my '64 and my friends '62 and we were wondering what the widest and tallest tire that you can run on the rear of a 62-64 Fairlane? We might and very possibly will consider tubbing the rear some to gain tire size. Also, I noticed on fatmans website that they say you can run 13 inch brakes with their front strut setup which utilizes later model mustang spindles and struts. Is there anything else limiting brake size other then actual wheel size? Can you run 12 or 13 inch brakes with the Granada spindles? Thanks for any help and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

I run a 275/60/15 Nitto Drag Radial on my 64 with Weld Draglites, 15x8 with 5.5" back space. Tire is basically 28x9. I run ladder bars so there are no leaf springs on a 57-59 9" housing. The rear is moved back about 2 1/2" and centered in the wheel opening. If I remember right the housing was about 1/2" or so wider than the stock 8".
Wheel wells are stock with very minor trimming.

I ran a 12.4" diameter Crown Vic rotors and matching calipers on Granada spindles before I changed to coilover struts. Just had to modify some hubs to mount the hat style rotor and some simple brackets to mount the caliper. I have 16" rims. _________________ Steve 64 S/C big brakes 8.8 rear 289 lentech AOD, strut front suspension

backspacing
69-Backspacing becomes important as you get bigger,
The Fatman coil over set up calls for 5" backspace minimum, with the optional Wilwood 4 piston brakes i had to use a 1/4" spacer even with 5" backspacing to clear, at least with tork-11's.
I;ve been eyeing the rear wheel tubs too, that little lip that intrudes into the wheel house looks pretty easy to cut away, then just pull the wheel house out an i" an add a strip to fill the gap _________________ roger powell
