choosing a chrome shop
I'm looking for current info on any chrome shop to replate my bumper. Who is a good shop with fair pricing? _________________ 1962 Ford Fairlane

local builder
The best place in Canada, is The Plating house,Toronto, Ontario
but, you would have to add shipping from you to them.
Go to a local body shop, or better still a local hot rod builder & ask about ones closer to you _________________ roger powell

Ok remember you are going to pay more for good work..
A good shop like Pauls, will get the part straight, then copper plate it and buff out several times before the chrome and nickel.
The copper is like a primer, the coat help them see and imperfections and each time the part gets better. then the chrome and then the nickel to protect the chrome. _________________ John Creager

It might be a little far for you
but Custom Chrome here in Knoxville, TN does GREAT chrome work at pretty reasonable rates (considering other shops). I've had lots of work done there and Jim is almost anal about being sure the customer is happy with their work. I have never been able to spot ANY grinding or repair marks and you will never see any "rainbow" color drips at the edge of their work.
The last set of bumpers I had re-finished, for a '67 Galaxie, was about 4
months ago and the cost was $800.00 for the pair. That price also included repairing and straightening. They can ONLY do steel parts, NO pot metal or aluminum but there are 2 more shops in the area that can do GREAT pot metal & aluminum repair and chrome if you need any done.
Jim gives me a little discount so if you want to check him out I will be glad to help if I can.
