alt light
I guess they are called idiot lights for a reason! I replaced the alternator and voltage regulator (stock items from NAPA) on my 67 Fairlane 500XL Conv, 289.Original motor with 83K miles All was fine for a few minutes then the alternator (idiot) light comes on again. Any clues???

Check for proper grounding that will cause the condition you discribe.

Green-Red wire from the "I" terminal on the voltage regulator to the charge
indicator light and the other wire on the charge light to 12V+ feed. "I" on
the regulator stands for "indicator" - do not ground the other terminal on
the indicator light as the bulb is inline with 12volts+. If you've ever had guages
only you'll soon discover how un-idiot these lights are. You'll notice that red
light long before the guage will ever alert you.
