A bit pricey but these are suppose to correct the 62-65 Fairlane meteor front end problems.

I dont see why these along with the strutts from TCP would not work???

Yea I guess you could do a MII for almost this much but these are pretty trick.

good looking pieces, do they take your old springs, struts?
Have they any before after tests?
have you looked at the Fatman Fabricators F;lane kit?

I am leery of Fatman stuff since their balljoints and bushings seem to die 'young'---------as in under 20K miles in normal driving.

A customer where I work (I am an alignment tech) had a 1950 Plymouth SW with a M II kit underneath it hence my poor opinion of Fatman products.

coil overs

the kit based on a Mustang coil over set up,
They won;t do a Mustang 11 type for F;lanes, seems their tech people think its a big mistake to totally remove those dreaded shock towers.

so who makes those and what are they asking?

FYI new shafts for your stock area are like $180 a SIDE...toss in some powdercoat, new joints and you could have alot in a decent set of 40 year old stock style arms....

not sure anyone offers a lower arm either....

those lowers look a little overkill being that they carry pretty much no load.

but for a simple bolt on upgrade not a bad deal!!

looking at the fatman setup it looks like they kept it rear steer. the cut off the steering arms and supply a bracket to bolt on the spindles.

Global West..

Howdy. I've got Global West uppers on my 66 and like 'em a lot. They seem like a safe place to go and they've got parts for your year. FWIW, Scott

http://www.globalwest.net/1964-73_Mustang_performace_lower_control_arms.htm

p.s. Dunno about your car exactly, but if it uses the rubber spring mounts on the upper a-arm the rollerized ones seem to be a good upgrade.

The 1966+ Fairlanes are easy suspension wise: they apparently use the same upper control arms as 1967-73 Mustangs, Mavericks and, of 1966+ Falcons/Comets. Lower arms are somewhat oddball (1966-67 only) due to a different strut rod bolt pattern; although I see no reason why 1968+ LCA's could not be used with their accompanying rods Smile

Larry, they were offered for a while on E-Bay.

I used to have their info & phone number. You interested in them?

When i called about them, they were like $700 for the set,

I could not get an answer out of the guy on the phone as to what they were made of, ie: chrome moly, mild steel or DOM!

Well, apparently these guys make some as well...

http://freakride.com/catalog.pdf

But no pics. The ones they do show pics of look better than the Arky pics.

<edit> They are the same ones, just got pics from Al.

They're pricey as well, $1050 for uppers and lowers, doesn't say anything about a strut rod.

Apparently part of Blue Moon Motorsports out of Winter Springs Florida.

Cold enough for you?

Yep, those are the guy's I talked with. I priced just the uppers and they were like $650 or so. I just rebuilt my stock uppers and I will just pray they hold up to those massive wheelstands!

Cold, nope!
Wishing I was in North Dakota!

yeah too pricet for me not knowing what they are made of, bushing type, etc.

I put some global west arms on my S10....set me back $600 just for uppers...

I have been thinking about boxing an upper and welding a plate on the bottom so I could use a mustang spring perch....just to see how it would work.

globalwest does offer tie-rod ends for fairlanes and really wish they would produce an upper arm for them

I need to get back to work on my lowers. who knows if it all works out maybe I will have to look into making a couple sets

Do they utilize the stock strut rod or is there an aftermarket rod that you use with them?

I’ve heard of Mustang guys using some aftermarket strut rods, I think from Afco, or will an aftermarket Mustang Strut rod work?

Also, are the ball joints stock Fairlane replacement ones, or are they a different one that matched the stock taper? If different, could they be changed out so a different rear steer spindle could be used?
According to the NSS rules I’ve seen in the past, the factory type steering must be utilized, so rear steer with the steering box is the way I’ll have to go. Factory type suspension or aftermarket replacement
suspension parts are allowed, hence using tubular control arms is allowed as long as they’re commercially available. I was going to have my chassis guy fab me up two sets, one for myself and one for sale
but if they’re already available, then that’s one less part I have to custom make.

Lastly, what material are the arms made out of, Chromemoly? DOM?

I’m a ways off on this project, I’ve got to wait for the economy to turn back around, just trying to get all my sources for parts straightened out.

Larry

You can use the stock strut rod. I don’t believe the Mustang strut rod will work. I think the bolt hole pattern is different, but I’m not certain. The ball joints are different than stock but the taper matches the stock spindle. Ours are made of DOM Seamless tube.

We’re here when you’re ready.

larry...

have you thought about just reaming out spindle holes? a tapered ream is about $100 from a circle track supplier (those guys are into swapping ALOT of stuff around)

alot of tapers are the same size (most are the same "angle") I am running mopar screw in joints for the arms I a working on. much easier to change out on the car, lots of options for other tapers (circle track guys even swap the studs around on these and offer longer ones) I might be posting up some pics in a couple weeks of my first generation arms to see what you guys think. they are mostly off the shelf parts cut down and welded all up.
