is this correct?

this guy claims this is a GTA, yet it's a C code engine. weren't the 289 GT cars A codes?

i understand the vin breakdown, but a C code is a plain jane two barrel 289. the A code was the high performance four barrel 289. 67 was the first year they put the 289 in the GT cars, but i thought it was at least the hipo small block.

gta

the 1967 gta besides a few minor trim changes, the 289 2v became the standard with the optional 390 2v or 4v, the 289 2v code "c" was standard, it would have to have an "a" code for a 4v as you suggested, but would have to have been special ordered if possible, the 427's were also available in either 2v or 4v, aside from that anythings possible, back then car manufacturers pretty much did what ever they wanted, even mixed year parts and unheard of combinations, mopar was especially bad for this, putting big engines in non-production big engine small cars. hope this helps,it sounds like it's original, wasn't trying to insult your intelligence with the vin decode, some people actually don't know how and was only trying to help.

okay, that makes sense. just didn't think they'd put a 2 barrel in a GT car. a 2 barrel 427 makes even less sense, wow.
