is it worth it? 64 2 door I6 Purchase

Found a straight 6 64 2 door for my price range. I already have a 9" and a 390 to go in, but my question is, What else needs to be done.

What are the differences between a 260 64 fairlane and a straight 6 64 fairlane, besides motor, trans, and rear end?

no difference structurally between the i6 and the v8. only differences will be in apperance stuff like side mouldings, dash cluster and interior oprtions.

I'm pretty sure you will have to alter the shock tower areas to fit that 390 in there. I could be wrong on this (can someone else weigh in?), but be sure you understand the metal working issues prior to buying the car.

5 lugs for the Fairlane for either I6 or V8. 4 lugs were on Mustang and Falcon 6 cyl cars....

definately need to modify shock towers when installing a FE

Correct: all 6 cyl cars along with most V8 cars used the 8" diff with 5 lug wheels. That stated: I am 99% sure that the 289 271 HP vehicles did use the Ford 9 incher.
