is it worth it? 64 2 door I6 Purchase
Found a straight 6 64 2 door for my price range. I already have a 9" and a 390 to go in, but my question is, What else needs to be done.
What are the differences between a 260 64 fairlane and a straight 6 64 fairlane, besides motor, trans, and rear end?

no difference structurally between the i6 and the v8. only differences will be in apperance stuff like side mouldings, dash cluster and interior oprtions. _________________ John P

I'm pretty sure you will have to alter the shock tower areas to fit that 390 in there. I could be wrong on this (can someone else weigh in?), but be sure you understand the metal working issues prior to buying the car.

5 lugs for the Fairlane for either I6 or V8. 4 lugs were on Mustang and Falcon 6 cyl cars....
definately need to modify shock towers when installing a FE _________________ John P

Correct: all 6 cyl cars along with most V8 cars used the 8" diff with 5 lug wheels. That stated: I am 99% sure that the 289 271 HP vehicles did use the Ford 9 incher.
