63 Fairlane Wheels

I would like to put a set of smoothies on my Fairlane. I have looked over all the old forum posts and have also gone to Woody's site where people have posted their wheel/tire sizes. I'd love to fit a set of 17 inch rims on my car, but it looks like that doesn't work so well. My car is a cruiser and won't be racing, so I'd like to have the same size wheel all the way around. So based on all that research I'm guessing that the best bet is a 15 X 6" rim. Can anyone tell me if these will fit my totally stock 63 Fairlane 500 (see below)? Is the backspacing enough? Has anyone gone with 15x7 all the way around without rubbing? What is the biggest tire size I could go with (needs to work in both the front and the back)?

Rim Diameter (in): 15 in.
Rim Width (in): 6.00 in.
Backspacing (in): 3.750 in.
Offset (mm): +6.00mm
Beadlock Functional: No
Beadlock Included: No
Rim Material: Steel
Center Material: Steel
Wheel Finish: Chrome
Lug Nut Seat Style: Conical seat
Wheel Construction: 2-piece
Conical Seat Taper: 60 degree
Hub Centric: No
Center Bore Diameter (in): 4.280 in.

Thanks in advance.

I am using 16 x 7 on the front with 4" bs. There are some guys using 17", so they will work. I wanted more sidewall on the tire so I decided on the 16's.

I've got my eye on some 16X7's as well. I've heard about too many problems with the 17X7's (which was also my perferred choice). Check out this guys' ride with 16X7's.

BTW, Steve has one fine ride as well.

Thanks guys. I don't know how I had missed that cardomain site, but reading through people's upgrades on their 63's gave me a ton of great information. Both of y'all have beautiful cars. I might have to put a cardomain site on my 63 as well.

I think after looking at everyone's cars with different size rims that I'm going to try and squeeze the 16 x 7 in. rims with 4 in. backspace onto the Fairlane. I just have to come up with the money now. These are the smoothies that I think I will be going with:

And then I'll get the tire size that Steve said worked for him (225/50/R16).

I love the Torq Thurst II's but my car is turqouise with a white top, and I'm trying to go with more of a retro look. It is a hard decision though because those Torq Thrusts look great.

Thanks guys,
Jeff
