4.6l in a fairlane?
Has anyone put a 4.6 L engine in an early 60's fairlane, or maybe just seen one thats been done? I am trying to decide which engine i want to put in my '65. I know a 5.0 will fit but I was thinking it might be kinda neat to drop the 4.6 in instead. Oh, I should mention that I am also planning on installing an RC Motorsports front end under the car, so there will be no strut towers to contend with no matter what my engine selection ends up being.
Thanks for any and all help guys

Not an early Fairlane, but you might find
http://www.twintorino.com
to be interesting and relevant. They're fitting S/Cd 4.6L SOHC engines in two 1968 Torinos. Their project involves a lot more than that, so it might be inspiring.
Before anyone corrects me, they have changed plans and are reserving the DOHC Cobra motors for a future project. _________________ Kyle Lehrmann

Romeo or Windsor
If your removing shock towers the 4.6 will phiscally fit the engine bay
Have you found a Mod. motor yet?
I was thinking about this very build
Then i saw the new 5.0 from Ford, but, its so new, i;d probably have to wait a yr. until it sees the market & who knows what it will cost.
I was speaking with a Mr. Hyland who is a Mod. motor guru here in Ontario, he says the Mod. block is cheaper to build & much stronger than the old 5,0 & the stock Romeo or Windsor 4.6 will do 800hp!
Do keep us apprised of where you go with this, i love the sound of this motor at 7500rpm! _________________ roger powell

They also make a carb intake for the 4.6 now . I am not a big fan of the Mod motors but if I did the swap into a older car it would have a carb. _________________ 1966 Gt , Tahoe Turquoise , 35143 miles
