Like the title say's was able to clear up about $4,000 to spend on my project.

For those who don't know I have a 65 500 SC. The body is straight and paint will suffice for the time being.

I am looking to make it a somewhat summertime daily driver.

My priorities are changing the front drums to disks as the current drums have issued with locking up, new rims and tires to clear the new disk brakes

Front and back springs and shocks.

Most of all I need her to turn right over when I go to start the car.

So as recap, the must are brakes swapped and the car to turn over easily.

The bonus is if I can get all of this within the $4,000. I might even have an extra $1,000 to get the exhaust and engine improvement going.

Please provide any suggestions you may have

I am leaning towars the stainless steel brakes kit , a set of AGX gas adjustable shocks, not sure where to go for the springs yet, in everything else I am still lost..... here is a photo for reference

I think your paln makes good sense. Brakes and suspension. Disk Brake kits I think are aroun 6 to 900 $$. I'm assuming she has a 289. An electronic ignition is a very good upgrade. If you have the extra $ Headers are limited in choice. Hooker 6134 fit right in. About 425.00 for non coated. Have fun and enjoy. You will almost always be the only 65 at any cruise !!

That is actually one of the parts I enjoy. Which electronic ignition would you guys recomend.

I did the Petronix with their wires and hot coil. It was an easy swap and works flawlessly. Also apears pretty much stock. Not that expensive either. Summit has them or Dearborne.

When looking for a disc brake conversion, don't forget to look at the Wilwood kits. A friend did one on his 64 sedan and said it took less than one afternoon to do it and works and looks good.Price is quite reasonable.

I have been looking at wilwood closely in fact thought they dont list a 65 (no suprise) they did have a kit for the for a 66 fairlane, 65 mustang and 65 falcon. I am not sure which would be the closest fit, the falcon maybe???

Not sure which kit my buddy used but I would think that one for a 65-66 Mustang would work. He used a street setup with the 11 inch or so rotors.

I used the factory discs from a 67 Mustang,just drop the backing plate and it's a bolt on, hardest part was jacking the car up. also used 67 master cyl.and manual proportional valve. I'm non power brakes.

I've got power brakes wonder how much of a difference it's going make. Any one on these boards have knowlede or experience in the similarities of the 65 fairlane vs mustang?

You can shop around and get local upholstry for agood price.

Watch ebay for anti sway bars they are awesome on these cars.

Front end kit from Kanters or PST.

Local shop for wheels and tire.
