Steering column Question
Does anyone know how I can change my automatic transmission car over to a 4 speed in the floor and by pass the neutral safety switch. Do I just tie the 2 Red-Black wires together? I'm sure my ignition will not work with the steering column out and those wires not connected. I have new MSD distributor and 6AL box. Will that make a difference? Thanks!

Jumpering the wires will work. Is the safety switch on the column near the fire wall? If so isn't it spring loaded to return it to the parked position? _________________ Mark J. Covill

What is jumpering? If the complete steering column is disconnected, will the car crank with out doing anything to the wiring? Thanks

Jumpering basics
Jumpering is bascially bypassing a switch/wiring/part to test the system or get it out of the way.
So in your case, jumpering the neutral safety switch will be connecting wire A to wire B to complete the starting circuit. I would cut the connector off the neutral safety switch with 2" of wire remaining then splice those two wires to one another to create a loop. This way if you find the swap to be a little more then bolting parts in you can replace the switch and not have to rewire the system. _________________ Mark J. Covill
