Where to find build sheets?
Where are the build sheets placed in a 69 Torino Fastback? I have looked inside the dash, under the carpet and inside the front seat cover with no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, _________________ Rick 69 Torino GT Fastback

Those places are normally where they're found. There was no standard location for the build sheet. It wasn't even required to accompany the vehicle once it reached the end of the assembly line. They were supposed to be thrown away since they served their purpose, but most of the time, the assembly line workers just stuffed them in their favorite place out of sight in the car.
There is no guarantee that you'll ever find a build sheet anywhere in the car.

I found mine a few years ago when I removed the carpet. it was sitting flat on the floor pan on the passenger side but it was in such bad shape I could hardly make out anything on it and half of it was desinigrated from whatever leaked or spilled down there over the years. _________________ '68 Fairlane 500 sportroof, 428CJ, close ratio toploader, 9" detroit locker, 31 spline axles, 3.50 gears.

I'm a little curious. What exactly is a build sheet? I don't recall ever coming across one in all of my 48.7 years! _________________ MET

To my knowledge, the build sheet is kinda like the model plate on the door, that tells all of the details about the car, like the engine, trim level, colors, radio/no radio, which wheels were ordered, etc. Specific to each vehicle as picked out by the buyer. Basically, it would tell you every detail about your car if you were planning on doing a concours (concourse?) restoration, or just wanted to know exactly how it originally came.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Here are a few examples of build sheets I found through Google.

You can also order build sheets if you supply the information. I want to say Mac's Antique Auto Parts makes them, but I could be wrong. _________________ 1967 Fairlane 500, 302 V8, Toploader transmission. Maybe I'll eventually get it on the road.
