5.8 EFI hood clearance/66 Fairlane

5.8 EFI hood clearance problems 66 Fairlane.
Is there a air plenum that is shorter (approx. 6.5 inches) than
the one I have (approx 12 inches). The 5.8 intake manifold
has a different intake pattern and is larger than the 5.0 ones I
have tried. Thank You

The best stock combination you will find is the GT40 intake manifold. The lower manifold is 351 specific and can be found on first generation lightning pickup trucks. The upper intake manifold can be found on 96-01 explorers and lightning pickups. I don't have a measurement but I would venture to say this setup is 2"-3" shorter than a stock truck intake. Other options would be to go aftermarket, or build your own combination. Search on ebay for "typhoon" intake for a cheap and easy intake that should be short enough to fit under the hood.

Check out the adapter that BC Broncos has come out with. Uses the shorter 5.8 EFI truck manifold and the car 5.0 upper.

"BC Broncos has come up with an adapter that will allow you to use the 351w lower truck manifold and the car 5.0 HO upper manifold. This will allow you to put a 351W with EFI under a stock steel hood in your Bronco. Comes with two gaskets and all necessary hardware. This is a true bolt-on fix for your hood and firewall clearance problems. Plus you may gain a little horsepower."

Cheers
