exterior door handle removel

exterior door handle removel

Hi Guys any tricks to removing the outer door handle on a 64? Just as soon not break something if there's a right way vs. OOOPS!!! damn it.

Dave,

If you get inside the door there should be fasteners there to hold the handle. You may need to go through quite a bit of disassembly unfortunately. Maybe a good place to start is a Cheltons or a shop manual. I just checked my Chiltons but it did not describe the disassembly of the door innards (unfortunatley). My Chelton's is a "combo" deal that groupls all fairlanes together so maybe the individual mode Chelton would have more details.

handle

Remove the onner trim panel and take the 3/8" headed handle bolt out...then in the door jamb under the weatherstrip there is a phillips headed screw which needs to be removed,,,,all is rather easy.

Hey guys thanks for the input. Under the weatherstrip, I wondered if there may be a hidden screw. Them clever devils!
