According to Beatty/Woods handy little calculator
460hp @6,000rpm
390 lbs. @ 5500rpm
believe it when i see it on the stand!
Using the new lunati stroker crank of 3.425 inch & rod at 5.400 inch did anyone figure what c.i. this works out to? _________________ roger powell

Beatty/Woods
I sure would have faith in them after they flycut my pistons on the wrong side and installed a marine crank in my friends 5.0, ain't the same since the old man left.

i have heard that rumour, My first mill was built by Entec Racing & its been absolutely the best, maybe i will just go back to them again.
I think the 331 is the way to go though, i;ve only talked with one guy who is running a 347 & he does, after a yr. have oil consumption problems. _________________ roger powell

That condition exists when the wrist pin intrudes into the oil ring land. That condition can be controlled with gapless piston rings in conjunction with a lower support ring in the oil ring groove. _________________ '68 Fairlane 500 sportroof, 428CJ, close ratio toploader, 9" detroit locker, 31 spline axles, 3.50 gears.

oiling
Lunati tells me their new 347 piston lower ring does not intrude into the wring land at all, hence no worries about oil consumption _________________ roger powell

I have quite a bit of experience with combos such as this.. I ran a 342 inch combo similiar to what you are looking at doing, with 3.73's and a T-5. It was a hydraulic roller, 224/232 with .560/.598 lift on a 112 lobe seperation. My 363 inch Dart block motor runs a hydraulic roller with 236/244, .608/.613 on a 112 lobe seperation. My Fairlane's 308 uses a hydraulic flat tappet, 230/240, .523/.555 on a 106 lobe. It has a Tremec 3550 and 3.73's. I will tell you, it acts very radical, and I wouldn't recommend anything that large for a daily driver. Comps' new Extreme Energy line has worked great in several engine builds we have done... just did a 355 Chevy with ported heads, performer rpm intake, and a 600 Holley. We used the 268 Extreme Energy, with is a 224/230, 268/280 in a mid 80's trans am, 700r4 overdrive and 3.73's. The car has a slight lope, get's decent mileage, and pulls very hard to around 6000. I would look very close at the XE268 and XE274 if I were in your position... here is a link to the page:
