Going by a book I have it says the standard engine in all fairlanes - except the GTs - was the 200cid 6-cylinder, all the other motors were options. _________________ 66 hardtop downunder

i just never seen an XL with a 6. you'd think if someone were spending the money on the XL package they'd upgrade engines, too. _________________ NMCB 28 Seabee Battalion

$105 for the 289, $206 for the 390, $184 for the cruise-o-matic for the 289,$214 for the 390, or $183for the 4 speed manual. Not really that much more to go for the v8, thats probably why there aren't to many 6 cylinder ones around. _________________ 66 hardtop downunder
