tool to remove power steering cylinder from center link?

Hi-first time on the new forums-was having trouble with search functions but I'm rebuilding the power steering cylinder and replacing hoses and the steering pump on my 67 ranchero w/ 390. I need to buy a puller for the pump pulley and looks like I need something similar to get the cylinder stud off the center link. Any suggestions as to a type/size of puller that is most versatile for doing both jobs? Also any helpful hints for the cylinder rebuild much appreciated! Thanks, Paul

Paul,
I used a Pittman arm puller for the cylinder but my advice for the pulley is to take it to a repair shop and have them remove/install the pulley as it takes two different tools to do the job and the Pittman arm puller will only ruin your pulley (trust me, I know). An American Pittman arm puller will just barely mount (almost too big), but will work. A word of caution, make sure that the cylinder is disconnected from the chassis as it comes out like it was shot from a gun.

Drop the drag link

If you are that far along, just undo the idler arm and tie rods and use a press to push out the power ram stud. It took 5 minutes to remove the drag link and 30 seconds to pop out the stud. Well worth the effort.
