What is the driveshaft length for a 63 Fairlane Sport Coupe? What is a newer comparable swap?

It will probably depend on which driveline you have. An automatic may take a different length than a standard and if you are using an 8" or a 9". I changed my driveshaft length twice. First when I put in an 8.8" rear and again when I put in a long tailshaft version of an AOD tranny. I went to the wreckers with vernier and tapemeasure in hand and went to the Ford section of the driveshaft area and started measuring. Found what I needed with an aluminum one from a Crown Vic.

I'm using a stock rebuilt 8" rearend, but was looking to upgrade my driveshaft. How do you measure a driveshaft? My car was an automatic originally, but I am converting it to a Ford 4 speed toploader.

If you have your tranny and rearend in, take the tranny yoke, shove it in all the way and then pull it out just over 1 inch. Measure the distance from the rearend u-joint cap cradle to to yoke cap crade and that will be your driveshaft length. Just know if you are measuring center to center or outside to outside. Next step would be to call your local driveline shop or grab your tape measure and head to the wreckers.
