Brighter headlights in your Fairalne / Galaxie / Comet
BRIGHTER HEADLIGHTS in your 65 - 68 Fairlane / Galaxie 65 - 67 Comet
The headlights in older cars are not very bright. They weren't when they were new. It takes more than a high amp alternator, or powerful headlights to make them brighter.
Changing old headlight sealed beams to Halogen are little better, at least they don’t look yellow like the old sealed beams did. Even Halogen will not be as bright as they could be, because factory wiring tends to create a voltage drop by going through all that wiring and switches. H4 lights make the problem worse.
Relays used as "remote control switches." takes only a small amount of power (most 1/4 amp) to turn on. When the relay is switched ON with existing factory wiring the relay delivers power directly from the battery to the headlights. Thus allows you to use those nice Halogen or H4 headlights. Using relays takes the load off the dash wire harness, and the ignition. You’ll notice dash lights get brighter and other accessories work better.
Installing one of my relay kits for your headlights is a simple plug in and go operation, no cut or splicing factory wiring. Kit also includes new Headlight extension harness ( a $40.00 value ) Removing the electrical load off weak factory connections and switches, will increase there performance. This is one of the best upgrades you can do for an older car.
Makes your baby more enjoyable to drive. ☺

Or this for $35
Howdy. I have not had the time to install this yet but I have it and it looks perfect other than the yellow insulation. Four headlight system, two relays, pretty much plug 'n play. Kinda for the ricer crowd, but what the hey, 'lectrons is 'lectrons.

headlight relay system
let me know how this works out for you.I'm interested if it is a true plug in and play I've found some of the plugs for the harness don't match factory wiring I really couldn't make out from pictures. The kit I sell is a true custom made with all the correct factory plugs and wire color and then covered with black wire loom , double wired from each relay to driver & passanger headlights, this way you get best power delivery from battery to headlights Thanks Ray

Cometman - can you e-mail me some pics of your setup?
I'm getting to that point in reinstalling the wiring in my 67 Fairlane GT390/4speed, and this is the route I want to go. I'm going with a higher output alternator as well, so if there's anything related to be concerned about, please chime in...
My E-mail address is gt428@yahoo.com.
Thanks,
Mark

Blatant what?
If your talking about my madelectrical post?
I;m simply sharing a site & gear that can greatly help our antiquted electrical systems.
I have not, & never have any connection to madelectrical & do not profit from sharing Marks great electrical solutions for Fords.
I thought thats what this site was all about, sharing great stuff for our cars. _________________ roger powell

Roger I don't think he was talking about your post. We are certainly more liberal than the Woody's forum or else the original post wouldn't be allowed. I would say that anyone with ideas worth pursuing sales should check out e-bay. The spirit of this forum caters more to the "do-it-yourselfer" than buying ideas. Just my opinion. It's not directed at you Roger, just the OP. This is an easy mod that is diagramed on several webpages, doesn't seem like a $114 modification when most all of it is hidden from view anyway. _________________ Larry Hampton

relays
If you look closely at Marks site ,it does consist of more than a couple of relays, at least the kit i got.
It totally re-routes the electrical path to a elect. buss, mounted up on the firewall.
for there, you send power to the relays, dash, etc.
i thought it was a pretty major improvement, but when it comes to electrical stuff, i;m at total idiot, so i was pretty impressed.
Do feel free to send me donations if you buy from madelectrical, just kidding! _________________ roger powell
