A week ago I was taking off at a stop sign in my little S-10 and something underneath made a mild boom sound and it jumped out of gear. I tried to put it back in gear but I had no clutch whatsoever. I made it home forcing it in gear. I got in it the next day to drive to my dads, and majically the clutch worked absolutely perfect, like it was a new truck.

Yesterday it did the same thing. Clutch went out, I limped home. What could be the problem? Is this typical for the clutch master cylinder going out, or does this sound like the slave cylinder on the side of the tranny?

How many miles on the truck? It sounds as though there could be a leak or possibly air entering the hydraulic system. I had a Ford Ranger with a hydraulic clutch and when it went out at 200,000 miles I had to replace the hydraulic canister as well as put in a new clutch plate.
