Does anyone know the gear ratios available for the '63 rear end. I swapped the Ford-O-Matic out with the 221 and need to know what gear to purchase for the Speedometer gear. Of course the tag was missing from the rear and I don't want to have to crack the pun'kin and count teeth.

There is a way you can tell by jacking up the car, putting it in neutral ... then cound the number of turns of drive shaft per wheel revolution. You can also tell a lot by if the other wheel is spinning the other direction. I'm not certain what you can tell, but it all means something!

Stock ratios for the 8" with a V-8 were 3:00;s or 3:25;s. optional 3:50;s were available
you can get any ratio you want from aftermarket for an 8"
Mark the driveshaft & turn a wheel one full revolution, count number of times the driveshaft turns for one full wheel revolution, probably 3:00 to 1.
If only one wheel turns its an open diff.
If both wheels turn same direction its a posi, but very doubtful if its a stock 8"
