If you're going to do a 6cyl to V8 AOD swap in a vehicle that never had the AOD in it, two points.

One, the 5.8 should fit without much issue.

Two, you'll need to think and research every piece of any system in the car that has anything to do with the engine or trans. To do it right, you'll need to either find someone that has done this and has a list of things that they've come across, or you need think about every aspect of what will change if you change this type of thinking. Things like fuel line - which side of the car is it on now, and what side does it need to be on? THings like transmission crossmember, how do you actuate the trans selector if you want to keep the shifter column mounted, gas pedel connection, radiator hose connections, any computer needed to run the AOD, etc. Things like that. IMHO, that's the proper way to approach this swap.

And don't forget about upgrading the suspension and steering components for the additional weight, the I6 and V8 cars used different components.

Have a look at windsor-fox site to get an idea of X-member for your AOD,
Shift mech. to use either colomn or floor shifter
TV cable for AOD, you can get right from Ford or Windsor-fox but its cheaper from Ford parts.
And look at Baumann site for Aod related stuff.
Before you think about installing the AOD, think about upgrades because stock, they;re lacking for any kind of performance.
Especially shift points!
Go to lentechautomatics for all kinds of stuff to make an AOD great.
Like valve bodies, electric O/D controller, etc

Guys, thank you for the information and sites to go to. I know this
will be a complete change over of everything. The donar car is a 90
150 van. The objective of this project is to make this car capable of
long trips and around town. I plan on using the AC, pwr steering
and pwr brakes. Have the complete AC dash for a 66 to install.
9" rear end also. Just want to make this a real nice car.
