inserting a photo
can some one tell me how to insert a photo into my profile on the left side of page?

Just head into your profile when logged in. Located in the upper right side of your profile. There is some info about avatar's when you scroll down and a few different ways to insert them.

Thanks, however I cannot find anything relating to avters in the upper right side of my profile page. The image I want to add is 960 K and I do not know how to shrink it down to 9 K, I think this is the problem.
