You are correct! The 62-65 Fairalnes have a unique front spindle design. While the Granada swap works good enough, it doesn't leave you with a front end alignment that can ever be fully correct. There is 1/2 inch difference in the spindle height locations between the two spindles. The Granada spindle lifts your geometric curve by 1/2 inch. This means that at normal ride hieght, you are beginning to exhibit a toe-out condition. During bumpy road conditions, unacceptable bump steer conditions exist.
I too was orginally convinced that the Granada swap was the way to go. Then I did a little research and found out these facts. If your going to drive like Grandma and don't mind a little premature tire wear, this may work for you. If you're going to "drive it like you stole it", you might want to rethink. I sold all my Granada pieces.
All is not lost guys! Us 62-65 Fairlaners still have a solution. There is a guy that sells kits that use the existing Fairlane spindles on Ebay. Just got mine today. Looks like a good solution. _________________ 1963 Sports Coupe 289, 4sp

BTW, the above issues affect the 62-65 Comets and Meteors as well. _________________ 1963 Sports Coupe 289, 4sp

granada swap
I think you will see most of the guys on here have done the Granada` swap with great results, i certainly have had no problems.
I was originally using my am. racing 14" rally wheels which fit with the granda swap too.
I liked the swap so much i bought up every Granada, monarch, versaiile set up i could find, although the versaille ends have the wrong taper for f;lane tie rods mustang steve makes an insert to correct this too. _________________ roger powell

Hey, don't get me wrong guys, I know many of you have performed this swap and are quite happy with the results. I'm merely stating the facts, it's not a perfect swap for the 62-65 class of Fairlanes. It's darn close tho. _________________ 1963 Sports Coupe 289, 4sp

I had you beat 67conv. I started with manual drums all the way around. I had this car when I was a junior in high school back in 1984 and man when I think back at the things I used to do I wonder why I'm not dead with those kind of brakes. I think Flintstone brakes would be better. _________________ '68 Fairlane 500 sportroof, 428CJ, close ratio toploader, 9" detroit locker, 31 spline axles, 3.50 gears.
