Wheel swap

I'm looking at changing out the wheels on my '65, and going with a Torque Thrust II. In the process, I'd like to upsize to a 15" wheel. Has anyone made the swap and have a tire size that works well with the bigger wheel? Also, what is the bolt spacing and offset I should be looking for? (when looking for wheels online) Thanks for your help.

Just got registered the other day, but have already found lots of good information on the site. Thanks to those responsible for setting it up... I'm enjoying it! Very Happy

I am using 16" torque thrust II's. 7" wide in front with 4" bs and 8" rear with 4 7/8" (I think). I do have a slightly narrower rear end so I am able to fit 245's that actually measure wider than that. The bolt pattern is 4.5" on 5

Thanks for the replies!

I noticed on the "wheel link" that many are using narrowed rear ends to accomodate the larger wheel and tire. I'd like to keep my 8" at the stock size if possible, but more and more I'm thinking it might have to change.

Steve: Are you running a stock front suspension? If so, any fender rub with that size?

wheel size

I followed Steve;s example exactly, with shortened 8.8" rear.
i have same tire size as steve but running 4" lowered Eaton front springs, tire rub on those tight turns into driveway;s, other than that, just fine.
Steve; you got parts?

width

Would have to wait until i get home to tell you width, from memory it worked out a stock 90 T-coupe rear 8.8" with 1.75" removed from each end, but, let me check my notes.
Then you use 2 right side bronco 11 right side axles to get the right disc brake/wheel offset(Torg-thrust 11;s -4 7/8" backspace x 8" wide.)
So, the reality is the axles actually dictate the amount of the cut.
That said, once you add a bunch of power the axles, especially not knowing their history become the week link.
But, with 250 -300 hp they seemed to work just fine.
steve: Jump in here!

wheels

I have Wheel Vintiques Magnum 500's on my Fairlane, 15x6 on the front and 15x8 in the rear. My Aerospace front brakes make my car about 1/2 inch wider on each side in the front, plus I am running a 1/2 spacer to help clear the 4 piston calipers. I have a narrowed disk brake 8.8 in the rear... don't have the measurements with me. Tires are 215/60/15 in the front and 245/60/15 in the rear. I have pictures of all of this in the Members Rides area.
