Swapping Rear ends ?

On the 63 Fairlane SC, the rear is 51-52 inches depending on who's holding the tape. If I get a 9" from a 57,58,59 Ford they are supposed to be the same in length. Will my leaf springs still bolt right up to the 9"rear or will I need to swap out the springs? Can I just take off the stock 8" hardware that mounted the rear leafsprings or will it take new brakets and hardware? Thanks

I did this swap on a '64. You will have to relocate the mounting pads on the axle tubes. You can buy new pads from several sources. Just measure the distance between the pads on your eight-inch and after cutting the old ones off the nine-inch, have someone weld the new ones in place. Make sure you also measure and duplicate the angle of the pads to maintain the correct pinion nagle.

Have you heard of anyone using the 9" rear from a 67 Ford truck on the 63,4,5 Fairlanes? Are they the same width as the stock rearend?
