I missed a number, should read Vin.# DF91M501916, I am curious,as I found a Cougar Eliminator with this Vin., there was no plate on drivers door.
The shock towers have a double skin on the bottom portion, apears to have a 9" rear diff. non functional hood scoop. Parked next to it is a Comet GT.
(Maverick style body). dave s

vin

the D is a '00 (zero), and therefore a 1970 model

DF91M501916

F= dearborn assembly
91= body style
M= 351c-4V
50196= the 50196th ford assembled in dearborn in that year

if you plug it into the vin decipher tool at http://www.cougarclub.org/VinDecoder.asp , you get

0F91M501916
Door Plate Data
Model Year 1970
Assembly Plant Dearborn, Michigan (F)
Body Style Standard, Hardtop (91)
Engine Model 351-4V Cleveland (M)
Sequential Number 1916

I tried to work a deal with the son on the cougar.
but, he was pricing it like a car that had been all re-done.
did you ever make an offer on the Comet?

Nah! all I can see is two cars that have to be totally stripped and redone. I have a 65 mustang that is in that process.

Both the Dad & Son think the cougar & Comet are pretty rare
the cougar, maybe, but it does need a total re-do
I just wanted one of those 351C's they have stored
The deal was if i could move one of the cars, i would get a C for a smoking deal
I sent maybe, 3-4 guys over , i think one of em bought the Ram truck
But, now they don;t call me back!

Funny how that works! As soon as we get a few days of rain to wash the salt away I guess we can dig the ROCKETS out and see what can go wrong this year.
