My 2nd favorite promotion
Being in the promotion & touring business does have its perks, like building a 56 ford Country Squire for a Brewery.
I wa lucky enough to find a one owner coutry Squire in Niagra on the lake, it even had the optional T-bird motor (312c.i.)
When asked what the budget limit was, the Brand coordinator (who had to be all of 22 yrs. old) said
"just make it like, the sickest beer truck in Canada man, make it pop".
What i thought would be a dream job turned into the most stressful promotion i ever took on, that is, next to building 4 matching 34 fords, but thats another story.
After 3 months over the time allotted, we shipped the car to B.C. for the promotion where the local sales force took turns driving the poor thing, filled to the roof with beer, into the ground.
Part of the deal was when the promotion was completed,I would get first rights to buy her back.
I haven;t seen her yet but, i do know both rear springs broke clean through, the power steering blew so a local mechanic cobbled something together so it was driveable but, this somehow allowed the column shifter to pop out of gear for no apparant reason.
This was the excuse the last sales guy who drove her gave when he left it running on a slightly inclined licencees driveway
The car ,full of freshly brewed bubbly, rolled backwards down the driveway onto a busy roadway & was promptly T-boned by one of those huge logging trucks with water cooled brakes, which didn;t seem to help.
Im told the car will need some body work before its driveable.
