what did caliente mean?

i'm talking about the 66/67 comets. i know the cyclones were the GT's. was caliente a trim package, like 500 or XL for fairlane? if so, was it the cheap car or more dressy?

I had a 65 Comet Caliente. Red outside and in. 289 with 3 speed on the floor. Dammed thing would fly. Only problem was when a guy backed into the rear quarter panel. With all the angled curves, I had to buy a complete panel as no body shop would try to duplicate the angles!! Sad
