need some UPS shipping help

i've sold a bumper on ebay and i was wondering if anyone has ever shipped a bumper before. if so, how did you pack and ship it? does UPS actually have a box that is long enough to ship a bumper? i've never shipped anything this big before. and info appreciated. Laughing

Just got one from TCP

... and it came via FedEx ground, outer box was cardboard from a home water heater, wrapped in tape and string, inner wrapping was some nice long heavy wrapping paper with a soft backing. They used cut up mattress padding at the top and bottom of the box. They charged me $40, probably some bulk deal with FedEx. FWIW, Scott

I sold my '63 Bumpers and brackets to a girl in California. I bought some bubble wrap in a roll and wrapped them up in that. The wrap was probably 2"-3" thick. I used tape, then used some of that cling wrap on a hand roll to wrap it all up. It took it to FedEx drop off and asked if I had to box it or could I ship it as is, they said it was fine the way it was. They put the ticket on the wrap and taped it on and all was good.

I don't think she ended up being happy with the bumpers, I took lots of pics and described them as accurately as I could, they needed rechroming, but would work on a driver. Confused

bumpers not rechromed are very hard to find

Maybe the buyer thought a 40 year old bumper was suppose to look new. Experienced restorationest < (I MADE UP THAT WORD) ALWAYS KNOW WHAT THEY ARE BUYING BEFORE THEY LAY DOWN THE CASH

One man that had it all going for him was Carl Pippert. I would not preach to any one to study modern makers opposed to the old masters. Carl was a very advanced Ky. rifle collector. restorationest and contempoary maker. This is a very rare resuma. Study his work. And in this you can learn how I think it should be done, Earl

Looks like Earl, was reading your mind.
