2 questions
I have a 62 fairlane with a great running running 6 cyl and a 3 on the tree.
I would like to know if I can switch it to a floor shifter. Or maybe put a 302 in the car and sell the 6. Is the 6 worth anything? Any help would be great.
Thanks Bill

Yes, you can put a floor shifter in it. Shop the usual suspects: Jeg's and Summit.
The six has no significant value. There are some six websites that you could hit to get a feel for it but they're so common and unsought that you'd probably do little more than have someone take it off your hands.

Gerry is right. It is only worth what someone will give you and since no one is looking for them.........You may get a few dollars from a junk yard or scrap metal place. _________________ 1966 500XL 390 C6 Mostly stock at the moment.

Thanks
Would a 302 be a problem in this car?

I wouldn't think so. Didn't they come with 260's & 289's? _________________ 1966 500XL 390 C6 Mostly stock at the moment.

The 62 fairlane came with the 221 v8 or the 260 v8, it wasn't until 63 that they changed the bore and stroke on the 260 to get the 289. The blocks are the same so fitting a 289/302 shouldn't be a problem. _________________ 66 hardtop downunder

until mid 64 the 289's had a 5 bolt bell housing, then went to 6 bolt.

I know people have done this. Check with google...i am sure there is a ton of info. Just have to have a C4 or T5 or AOD to put behind it. _________________ Red 1967 Ford Fairlane convertible with built 289, 4.11s and T5!

Bill, there is a guy on the FordFE.com classifieds that has a 302/AOD out of a '83 Mercury Grand Marquis somewhere in Ohio the runs and shifts good, but has 200k on it that he wants $50 for if you pick up. _________________ Larry Hampton
