66 Fairlane steering question

With the engine out we are going to rebuild the front end and have a question. This is the center/drag link on our 66 Fairlane GT and engine crossmemeber:

To me it looks like the center/drag link it slightly bent and the engine cross member took a hit (as evidence from the oil pan). Am i right that the link is bent? And is the engine crossmemeber easily replaced?

I compared it to my 66 Comet and it looks like a decent bent and damage to the crossmember.

The link is badly bent. As to the crossmember; You could fab a tubular crossmember and weld it in. Only precaution (beyond being precise in the fabrication) is to make sure the frame rails don't spread when you remove the original.

It looks like someone towed the car by hooking the drag link.

Tierods are not on backward. They go in from the front with the nut to the rear of the car. It may be how they were orienting the view on the picture. It would be near impossible to install them from rear to front since the taper in the stud and on the rod won't allow the stud to pass far enough through the link to attach a nut.
