Aftermarket shifter in a factory console - anyone?
I have a '64 fairlane. I installed a factory console and added a shifter from a Galaxie to look stock. I plan to put in 347 stroker and will need an aftermarket shifter to avoid bad shifts, etc. Anyone put a ratchet shifter in a factory console? Pictures and recommendations please! _________________ 64 Fairlane 500

aftermarket shifters
About same as you, but no console, B&M shifter mounted to tunnel
to control a C-4/Gear Vendor so i wanted a shifter with very definate shift action, it gets very busy what with shifting the C-4 & hitting the GV "over" gears too, but, because its NHRA sanctioned shifter, to hit reverse its a 2 handed job, turns out to be just a pain in the butt for a street car
Have u looked at the new shifter from TCI? its on their opening web page, i;ve been told that its a step above other aftermarket shifters but, haven;t any hands on expierence with it, so, i'm seriously looking too
there is a small company that has come out with a whole new line of shifters,
i'm trying to find their info & will share _________________ roger powell

On my 63 Falcon 4 speed I have a Hurst shifter with the factory shift handle. Looks original and shifts great. Planning on doing the same on my Fairlane when I find the right shifter. _________________ 1963 Fairlane Sports Coupe

I too plan to use a gear vendor in the future, so I want to keep shifting simple. I have seen the new TCI shifter, but I think it's set up for a 4-speed. I have been looking into the Hurst V-Matic 2 to give me the option not to have a ratchet when cruising, but I'm not sure that it will fit the console. Also looking at B&M shifters, but looking at various boards, I'm not sure the quality is there. _________________ 64 Fairlane 500

interested in your rear set up
Yes, Notbolt, i tossed my B&M after a yr of swearing at it.
Tell me, u list the RRS suspension, how u like it?
I went with the Fatman coil over/strut conversion, having problems with it becuase of my non stock ride height, bottoming out.
Looks like dropped spindles are the answer, anyway, you list a Martz 4 link rear?
Can u tell me about your rear suspension set up??
how was the install, where did u get it, & how does she handle?
