should my running lights cut off with headlights?

Just curious if this is correct, or something wrong. My running lights work fine with the switch pulled out 1 click. When I pull the switch all the way out(headlights) the runners cut off. Is this normal?

No this is not correct. you should have running lights in both positions. I had to fix all kinds of wacky wiring when I got my car.

This depends on the year. On my '66, the amber lights turn off when the headlights switch is pulled out all the way and the headlights turn on.

I'm not sure what year this changed. Perhaps in '67 or '68.

The parking lights turn off when the headlights are turned on in '67's also. There is a mod to the headlight switch to fix this, but I don't remember what it is.

The government mandated side marker lights in 1968 as well as tail lights on when the headlights are on.

1969 was the last year for that setup...

1970 required running ights on with the headlights, incase a head light blew, there would still be a lamp on that sie of the car...
