64 Thunderbolt seats
What is the proper front seats for the Thunderbolt? I'm building a clone I want to use the proper seats.
I've heard from some that there Dodge van seats & from others Ford Econoline van seats. _________________ David Alger

Thats what I thought they would have to be. I can't see Ford using another manufacturers. I've read though in some places on the internet that there Dodge van seats. In fact the other day I called Crites & that's what they told me as well. _________________ David Alger

Oddly enough, the Thunderbolts came with a back seat. One windshield wiper, no heater, no radio, no armrests, no visors, no carpet, no insulation, no seam sealer, but a back seat. The Dodge A100 van seats did not flip forward, so I can't imagine they would use front seats that didn't allow access to the back seat.

That's what I thought. I was at a salvage yard today looking for parts & I found 2 Econoline vans. I forgot to take my camera to take pictures so I need to go back & look at them. _________________ David Alger

I was told by Crites there 60-67 Dodge van Bostrom seats. I just wouldn't have thought that Ford would have used these because of them being out of a Chrysler product. Do's anybody know where I can find a set?
jmgford, do you have any pictures of your Thunderbolt clone? Who is the best person to talk to about all of the details on building a clone? _________________ David Alger

jmgford, where did you get your seat covers? I talked to Crites & they said they didn't have anymore. _________________ David Alger

Bostrom was (is) a seat supplier to the automotive and truck industry. It isn't like they drove over the Dodge dealer and ordered them. I suspect there was some difference that made them more desirable or easier to install. I am sure they were purchased direct from Bostrom.
I got the covers from Crites.
This is the car.

jmgford, very nice ride. Nice garage to! If you don't mind, I would like to talk to you personally some time about your build.
I found a set of 64 A100 seats yesterday for $75, if the guy can get another set, he's trying to sell the vehicle.
I'm sorry if I'm a little slow on responses, I don't get an email when people respond for some reason. _________________ David Alger

It is a nice garage. Unfortunately it's Doug's (the car's owner), not mine. Are you a member of the Fairlane Club?

Not yet! I plan on joining sometime in the future. What size is that garage? _________________ David Alger

I think joining the Fairlane Club would be a huge benefit to you building this car.

Thanks for the advice I'll try to do that soon. I'm trying to find somebody that really knows all the details. This won't be a numbers matching car. What I want though is when you walk up to it at first you think it's the real deal. _________________ David Alger

You might want to contact this guy. He might be the guru you are looking for:

He has sent me several private messages pointing out what he thinks is incorrect about my car, plus he is in your neighborhood.
