Hey Rusty,
Do you know what happened to this Fairlane? I thought you may know because, did'nt you buy one of Ken's Mustangs. Or do I have that mixed up. Some cool paint on this car.

I don't know what happened to the Fairlane. Ken liked the wild paint!
I still have Ken's Cobrastang and plan on restoring it someday but it is going to be tough to match the paint.
That is me under my Mustang next to the Cobrastang

The Fantabulous Fairlane wound up in So. Illinois around 1969 or 1970. With a little digging I could probably find it. It belonged to a Guy in Olney or Flora if my memory serves me correctly.

It is time to work on the Fairlane. When I stopped working on it I had the major bodywork finished and epoxy primed it to stop the rust. Now comes the hard part many hours of block sanding and priming.

Do you have an expected completion date, Rusty? When are we going to hear noise and smell smoke?

I don't get a lot of time to work on my projects with all the customer cars we are working on. I have three projects of my own not counting the race car I have been working on in my spare time. I have decided to finish the Fairlane first and stop working on my other projects.

I thought all the major body work was finished but I was wrong. The roof had a lot of small dents that needed to be repaired.

We had a little spare time so Brian welded up a few rust holes in the rear window channel and I did some more bodywork

I should have it in prime again soon and than I can start the block sanding.

[quote="rusty428cj"]Change of plans I have decided to make this a street car and not a race car. I have a 428 and a set of ported Edelbrock heads and a C-6 that I had used in the Mustang that we will install in the Fairlane.[/quot

How come you decided not to race the Fairlane, Rusty?

It still could be a race car but I have decided to race the Mustang in the Southern Stock Super Stock Association with only a couple of changes I don't need two race cars. To make the Mustang legal for IHRA B/SA all we need to change is the cam, intake and heads. I already had all the parts to make it a legal IHRA stocker so the engine is at the machine shop now.

I have ordered a Crites rear spring relocation kit and plan to mini tub the Fairlane. I will finish the bodywork and at this time I plan on making it a street car but you never know.

Maybe set it up for some NSS action. You could have a motor that is mild enough to be streetable, but still be potent enough to have some fun at Nostalgia events. Best of both worlds. That is what I am thinking to do with my '67.

I've got a set of drag radials that I have had for years but have never been on the street that I will be using. It may be a 390 since I have a new set of .030 Ross pistons and I will use the 428 Edelbrock heads off the Mustang.

Block sanded the body with 80 than 180 and than sprayed 2 coats of SPI Turbo primer. It's getting closer.
