Floor shifter question . . .

Greetings gang, I have a '65 Fairlane with the factory 3-speed manual trans. It's a column shift and I want to convert to a floor shifter.

The problem is, I don't see any mounting lugs on the output housing of the transmission.

Does anyone have any photos or drawings of how a floor shifter would mount to that type of tranny?

thanks in advance,
Michael

I am not sure about a factory shifter but the aftermarket ones bracket bolts to the bolts holding the tail shaft to the case . You can see it here just click on the instructions page .http://www.hurst-shifters.com/hurst-products/INDY-SHIFTERS/INDY-SSA-3-SPEED-SHIFTER

Shifter . . .

Finally 1, thanks for the reply.

That's a strange setup . . . it looks to be very far forward on the housing. I wonder where that would put it in the hump?

Unfortunately, that shifter is not available online for some reason.

thanks,
Michael

Michael, I have a Master Parts book and can email you photos of the TWO types of 3 speed transmissions found in a 65 Fairlane. From the photos you can determine which one is in your vehicle. Additionally, looking at the photos not only are the applicable to the 65 Fairlane these transmissions (3 Speed) would also be used in other(S), i.e.
Mustangs/Falcons/Broncos/Mavericks/Torino so your option of looking for Fairlane specific information is greatly enhanced in your search. My email address is hahnmcmom48@aol.com In the "Subj" line put: 65 Fairlane, 3 Speed so I'll know who it's from.
