I've noticed that the overall quality of the 289/302 motor mount insulators isn't quite as good as it should be. (speaking of the "New" aftermarket replacements that are currently available)....I've had to enlarge the holes (engine block side) on at least two sets in order to get enough adjustment on them to get the engine in the car. If nothing elce, I'd say make sure those insulator to block bolts are good and "loose" when you try to line everything up...this will allow you to get the bases in place where they go. I'm sure you will be able to see what compensations you will have to make with bolt holes....I'd say that the insulators are the real issue that is holding you up. I'd make the needed mods to them, and leave the frame mounts and brakets alone......FWIW....Riff.
