Late model mustang wheels on 66 or 67 fairlanes?????

Hey guys, I am always seeing people put late model stang wheels on older cars mustangs and fairlanes. I have a 1966 2 door 289 car and I have aquired a set of the 5 spoke polished 2005 mustang Gt wheels. What do I need to do to get these to fit? Please let me know , Thanks Jeremy

I would think it would depend on the tires and the backspacing of the wheels. You may be able to simply bolt them on. I found 4 steel wheels off a Crown Victoria that I was able to use. I do have to Jack up the back from the frame though to get them on and off because they are so much thicker than the original there isn't room between the fender and hub.

I am talking about the factory 17" wheels. I have tried two different styles and they have pretty much the same backspacing. The inside of the wheels hits the upper control arm. I think everyone is using the wheel adaptors to do this, but I was wanting to know for sure..... Thanks , Jeremy

You will probably have to run around a 1 inch wheel spacer up front... these aren't cheap, between $100-150. I trial fitted 17 inch Mustang wheels on my 64, they fit fine on the back, but hit on the front just like yours. I ended up going with different wheels, but could have easily used the spader and run those. Trial fit on the rear as well, before you order your spacer. You can order them from Aerospace, Baer, most of the big brake companies

I just put a set on 2005 Musckat 16" rims on my 68 Falcon. I used 1.25" spacers and they fit perfect. I got my spacers off of EBAY . They cost me $123. Be sure that you get the ones that are 4.5 x 4.5 with the 12/20 treads. Jeep are the same.

The vendor was sscrambling. To find them on EBAY, I searched for spacer 1.25. Easy to find.

Good luck,

<--new to the forum.

This is great news, I was given a set of mid 90's mustang 16" five spoke wheels for my 67 500. I wasn't sure if they would fit.

on the same subject of mustang wheel fitment, what size tires are you guys running? i was hoping to run a 205/55 in the front and either a 225/55 or a 225/60 in the back for a slight rake.
