Is my centerlink incorrect?

I ordered a 66 fairlane manual steering rebuild kit(tie rod ends, sleeves, arm) but now I think the centerlink isn't correct or may be from a later year ford. Can anyone confirm different mounting point between the two? I only have the OE power steering set up to compare to and I wouldn't expect too much similarity between the two...

My '66 came with power and I added a manual adapter end from one of the mustang aftermarket suppliers. I later nabbed a junkyard manual center link from a wagon. The two (power centerlink with adapter / manual center link without) are an exact match (except for the end of course) and line up with the pitman arm just fine.

Hmmm.... perhaps the pitman arm is the problem?

The '66 and '67 steering linkages are different from each other.
The '67 has a longer drag link and , thus, shorter tie rod ends and
the '66 models have the shorter drag link w/longer tie rod ends.
The parts store may have ordered the wrong year parts for you.

The ends all the way in look real close, worse case I can trim a bit but the fit is nice & tight!

No luck posting pictures on here tonight, I emailed you with pics, info, and measurements....may be usefull to others, bottom line....your tie rods are wrong, your center link looks fine.
If you have better luck than me with putting the pics and info on this site, feel free to do so.....good luck!

Like Riff said your tie rods are wrong. The 66 & 67 used different tie rods. the 66 has long outers and short inners. the 67 used short outers and long inners. The 67 tie rods are cheaper and if you use both inners and outers on the 66 link it will work fine. If you go ahead and get both inners and outers for a 67 Fairlane they will line up just fine and be cheaper on the wallett than the expensive 66 tie rods. I would send back the 66 rods and order the 67 ones.
