We started working on it again this week. Brian started with the subframe connectors and than the roll cage. We cut the floor in the back and attached 2" box tubing inside the frame rail and than attached it to the torque box. The roll cage will attach to the tubing going to the rockers.

Very cool work. I am assuming you are going to build the driveshaft loop right into your sub frame connectors? Do you guesst the tubes that are going to the torque box?

Yes the drive shaft loop will go to the subframe connectors.
I had no plans on any gussets going to the torque box.

I would really love to see some more pics of the rear axle set up on this car. What size wheels and tires are you running?

At this time I just have the stock 8" in the back. I plan on getting a 9 " narrowed and want to be able to run 10.5 x 30 slicks.

I got the cage from Chris Alston's Chassisworks and I'm happy with it. It has been a slow process working on this between customer cars and a 1968 Mustang Coupe that I'm building to take to shows and cruise nights. With the economy that way it is it's taking longer to build the Fairlane.

It has been awhile since I worked on the Fairlane so I figured it's about time to finish the body. I ground down the welds on the firewall along time ago but never epoxy primed so I had some surface rust to deal with. Today I sand blasted and than epoxy primed the engine compartment. I need to get it on the rotisserie to clean up the bottom and epoxy. The next step is to patch the floor and install the door bars.

Bodywork is finished inside the quarter panel. I plan on spraying inside the quarters with SPI bedliner.

Change of plans I have decided to make this a street car and not a race car. I have a 428 and a set of ported Edelbrock heads and a C-6 that I had used in the Mustang that we will install in the Fairlane.
