Altenator problems!

I have a 63 with 289 but someone put a chevy alternator in it. It's not charging the battery. They obviously bypassed the voltage regulator but I don't know if it is wired correctly. What is the correct way to wire it in the car so it is charging the battery? The thing may be bad but I don't want to chunk it for no reason!

You can have the alternator tested at Autozone. They can check for volts and amps. The regulator may be bypassed if the alternator is from a 1970 and later GM, which it likely is. GM used internal rectification and regulation from '70 on.

Where do the wires go to off the alternator? One to the battery and one to the solenoid, where does the other wire go?
