C4 and C6 Transmissions
Hi all,
I'm a former Mopar guy that recently bought a 67 Fairlane GTA small block.
I'm just curious as to whether a C6 trans can be used with a 289 engine?
Thanks,
Ted

Yes, but why would you want to.
The C-6 takes more power to operate (parasitic loses).
Ford offered a C-6 behind a small block but it was extremely rare and you would have trouble finding the bell.
You can buy the bell housing aftermarket.
A well built C-4 will do the job in most applications and can be built to handle alot of HP if $$ is not an issue. _________________ Scott

Thanks Scott. I don't plan on going to a C6 however, I was just curious.

More common swap is the other way around - a C4 behind a big block. I'm running a built C4 behind 800 hp. C6 would hold it, too, but, as stated, less parasitic loss with a C4.
